Profile
Amer Yachts is an Italian builder of semi-displacement motor yachts in composite and, since recent years, of larger custom yachts in steel and aluminium. The Amer brand dates from 1990 and grew out of Permare, a Sanremo company founded in 1973 by Fernando Amerio as a service centre, dealer and contract builder. The business is still run by the Amerio family across three generations, and the yard says it has launched more than 100 yachts. Its range today runs from the 27.5 metre Amer 9 to the 74 metre Amer 74 Steel. The composite line, with models such as the Amer 96 Sanremo, 106, 120 and 126, is the core of the brand. The Amer Steel and Alloy lines extend the offer to explorer-style and long-range yachts between about 40 and 74 metres. In July 2026 the yard delivered Even Further, a 41 metre custom steel explorer, which it presented as its entry into steel explorer yachts. A 74 metre steel flagship, moved to outfitting in Pisa in early 2026, is due in 2027. Production is deliberately small: the yard says only a few boats leave it each year, and trade press counts seven yachts in its order book.
Origins
Fernando Amerio founded Permare in Sanremo in 1973 as a service provider, dealer and contract builder. In 1990 he started Amer Yachts, debuting with a 20 metre boat. Family members joined the business in later years. In the 2020s the yard added steel and aluminium lines to its composite range, started the Even Further and Amer 74 Steel projects in 2022, and established a new yard at Pisa Navicelli for the steel series.

Build philosophy
Amer builds in three materials. The Amer composite yachts use a fibreglass hull, with an aluminium superstructure on models such as the 96 Sanremo, and Volvo Penta IPS pod drives are used on the redesigned F-series. The Amer Alloy line, such as the 42 metre Amer 42A, is aluminium from hull to superstructure. The Amer Steel line uses a steel hull with an aluminium superstructure: Even Further, a 471 GT explorer with an ice-class notation, was reported to burn about 60 litres an hour at 9.5 knots in economy mode, with a claimed range of roughly 8,900 nautical miles. The 74 metre flagship carries a RINA Comfort Class notation. Naval architecture on several recent projects comes from Optima Design.
Ownership profile
Amer suits owners who want a family-run Italian yard and a yacht between about 27 and 74 metres. The composite models fit fast cruising on the Mediterranean, while the steel and aluminium lines target owners planning long-range, explorer-style cruising. Output is small, so each build is closely tied to its owner's brief.
