Tankoa Yachts S.p.A.

Motor shipyard · Genoa, Italy · since 2008

Profile

Overview

Tankoa Yachts S.p.A. is an Italian superyacht builder with its headquarters and main yard in Genoa. Founded in 2008, it focuses on custom and semi-custom motor yachts from about 45 metres. The official range runs from the T450 up to platforms such as the T760 Apache and S801 Vespucci, with built yachts listed up to 72 m. The company works with outside exterior and interior designers, so each yacht can take a different look while sharing a proven hull platform. Hulls are built in steel, aluminium or a combination of the two. Tankoa describes its approach as one where each project stays open to the client's wishes. Production is now split across two sites. Core construction starts in the port of Civitavecchia, and finished hulls move to Genoa for final outfitting, commissioning, sea trials and delivery. In 2025 the yard also bought the Genoa shipyard and the Otam brand, giving it more space and workshops. A refit division, built around a submersible dry dock, services yachts of up to 120 metres.

Origins

History & Ownership

Tankoa was founded in 2008 by Guido Orsi together with Euro Contenti. Vincenzo Poerio, previously the head of Benetti, was named CEO in February 2020. The yard opened a production base in Civitavecchia under a concession granted in December 2023. In September 2025 it announced the purchase of the Genoa shipyard and the Otam brand from Otam's two founding families. In 2026 it launched the 52 m Spirit in July and the 45 m TX450 in August, and held a coin ceremony in June for the 61 m Project Dream at Civitavecchia.

Build philosophy

Engineering & Fleet DNA

Tankoa builds in metal. The 72 m Solo and the 58 m Diamond Binta are listed with steel hulls and aluminium superstructures, while the 50 m Vertige is aluminium throughout. Model names point to shared platforms, such as the S501 and S701 lines and the T580 behind Diamond Binta. This lets the yard adapt a known hull to a client's layout. Work is divided between two sites: Civitavecchia handles steelwork, systems installation and early outfitting in a port area of more than 34,000 square metres, and Genoa completes the yachts. The refit side uses the KarSal submersible dry dock, which the yard says can take vessels up to 120 metres.

Ownership profile

Who Buys Tankoa Yachts S.p.A.

Tankoa suits owners who want a yacht tailored to them but prefer to start from a proven platform rather than a blank sheet. Its yachts range from 45 m to over 70 m, with steel and aluminium construction suited to long-range cruising. Choosing the yard also means access to a refit service for larger yachts.
